Guidelines for Creating a Multicultural Society(加賀市多文化共生社会づくり指針)

【Japanese only】 The city has developed a set of guidelines for the promotion of a harmonious, multicultural living space for all residents, including foreigners.

Moving in and out(転入、転出)

Moving in(転入)

When moving into Kaga, you are required to notify the city within 14 days after moving in.

You may file the required notification at the Counter Section (City Hall, 1st Floor) on weekdays between 8.30 AM and 5.15 PM (excluding public holidays and the year-end holidays from December 29 to January 3).

Please bring along the following:

  • Identity verification (driver's license, health insurance card, Residence Card, etc.)
  • Moving out certification (if moving from elsewhere in Japan)
  • Passport (if moving from abroad)

If you have any of the following, please also bring them along:

  • My Number Card
  • Basic resident registration card
  • Medical expense beneficiary certification
  • Disability certification
  • Certificate of eligibility from your previous municipality

Moving out(転出)

When moving out, you are required to inform the city 14 days after your move at the latest. You may file the notification up to 14 days before moving.

You may file the requried notification at the following locations, between 8.30 AM and 5.15 PM on weekdays (excluding public holidays and the year-end holidays from December 29 to January 3):

  • Kaga City Hall, Counter Section (1st Floor)
  • Administrative Service Center, Kamomaru Station (Abio City Kaga, 1st Floor)

Please bring along documents that can be used for identity verification (driver's license, health insurance card, Residence Card, etc.). If you have any of the following, please also bring them along:

  • National Health Insurance Card
  • My Number Card
  • Basic resident registration card
  • Medical expense beneficiary certification

Power of Attorney(委任状)

If appointing someone else to file the notification in your stead, you will need to complete the Power of Attorney form and have your proxy bring it along.

School Registration(学校の登録)

Residents with foreign citizenship are not legally required to attend school, but may enroll in Japanese elementary and junior high schools if they wish to do so. If you wish to enroll your children in a local school, please enquire at the City Hall's Citizens Affairs Section or at Kamomaru Station in Abio City Kaga.

For high school admission, please enquire directly with the school.

Kaga City initiatives:

Pocketalk Multi-language Translation Device(多言語翻訳機(ポケトーク)の活用)

The Pocketalk Translation Device, which can translate simple conversations in around 60 languages, can be used at the city hall counters or during home visits.

Application Forms and Administrative Services(申請書、行政サービス情報等の多言語化)

Materials like application forms, guides, and pointer charts for conversation have been translated into various languages according to importance and need.

Interpretation Services(通訳者の派遣)

Depending on the situation, city hall employees or private contractors may be able to interpret.

(It is recommended to request for an interpreter in advance.)

When: Weekdays from 9.15 AM to 5.15 PM

Where: Ishikawa Prefecture International Exchange Center (Rifare Building third floor, Honmachi 1-5-3, Kanazawa)

Languages: English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and 31 additional languages through the use of a translation device

When:

  • (Administrative) Every first and fourth Thursday of the month, from 1 PM to 1.30 PM and 1.30 PM to 2 PM
  • (Legal) Every third Thursday of the month, from 1 PM to 1.30 PM and 1.30 PM to 2 PM

By calling the designated phone number, you can have IFIE's Coordinators for International Relations assist you in interpreting during phone calls with specialized departments or organizations. This way, even those who are not proficient in Japanese may seek consultation regarding any struggles they face in their daily lives.
